Calypso Archives Radio Show

Explainer Special

Following Explainer's great popularity during the Carnival period in Trinidad in 2006 with "All Inclusive" and "Park It", I have made our extensive interview with him available for download once again.

John Child and Dmitri Subotsky interview their very special guest Explainer in the first ever Calypso Archives radio show.

In part 1, Explainer talks about his career up to 1984, including the international success of Lorraine, whilst your hosts play a selection of his greatest hits.

Part 2 takes us up to 2005 and features Explainer in outspoken mode talking about record producers, competitions, calypso judging and Chalkdust as well as his recent re-make of Lorraine featuring Bunji Garlin.

Due to bandwidth restrictions I am not able to host the streaming audio file on this site and have removed it. I have made the show available for download  while I seek to find a way to reinstate the streaming audio.

To download part 1 of the show click here. You should click on the tiny "Free" link on the left of the page near the bottom. The file is 45.6MB. You can then listen to the show at your leisure. You will need Real Player to listen to the show.

Part 2 can be downloaded here and is 67.1 MB. You will have to wait about 60 seconds and enter the code before you can download the file.

All tracks have been used with the permission of Explainer.

The files will stay up for at least one month.
